The Lace, Grace and Gears® – Female ride

The Lace, Grace and Gears® motorcycle rally was born of an idea to set a world record for the largest gathering of women motorcycle riders in one place. In reading an article, a friend and I discovered that a previous attempt in Europe had gathered several hundred women bikers. We believed that the great state of Texas alone could pull together several thousand bikers riders. This was the genesis of Lace, Grace and Gears®. We hope that 2016 will not only be the first Lace, Grace and Gears® rally, but that it will be the First Annual Lace, Grace and Gears® rally.

We are excited about the opportunities that Lace, Grace and Gears® will bring for women riders:
  • Celebrate a unique sisterhood that spans all ages, economic circumstances, life experiences, careers, and riding preferences.  We welcome all women bikers and riders; whether you ride in the front or back seat of a motorcycle.

  • Bring about an awareness of women motorcyclists in the biking world in terms of their buying power and give a forum to their collective voices when it comes to their rides, riding gear, and motorcycle dealerships’ approach to women riders.

  • Give a voice for the collective concern about motorcycle safety and break the stereotype image of female bikers – we are wives, mothers, sisters and daughters.

Lace, Grace and Gears® is an event organized and hosted by Sisterhood of the Asphalt Ribbon®. The event exploded within two months of being posted on Facebook and it was evident that the original venue in Conroe, TX was too small. A decision was made to move the event to Beaumont, TX to Ford Park, the sixth largest county fair show ground in the country, after a significant sponsorship agreement with Cowboy Harley Davidson.

Ford Park is the premiere sports, entertainment, and convention destination of Southeast Texas! Conveniently located in Beaumont on Interstate Highway 10 between Houston and Lake Charles, Ford Park features five world-class facilities on 221 acres. Ford Pavilion opened in Spring 2003 with Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban and continues to host some of the biggest names in music. Its 14,000-seat Ford Pavilion has first-class amenities, ample parking, restrooms, food and beverage plazas and lots of space to enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars.

Ford Arena, Ford Exhibit Hall and Ford Midway opened in the Fall of 2003, with Ford Arena selling out its inaugural event. The 8,500 seat multi-purpose Ford Arena hosts concerts, rodeos, circuses, motor sports and many other special events. Ford Exhibit Hall has 48,000 square feet of exhibit space and is attached to the Arena, offering a combined 83,000 square feet of space. The Exhibit Hall includes 8 individual meeting rooms, an 11,000 square foot lobby or pre-function space, concession stands and restrooms. Ford Midway is home to the South Texas State Fair, which draws an attendance of over 400,000 each year.

Lace, Grace and Gears® hopes to draw more than 8,000 bikers per day (and still counting). All all of them will enjoy three event-filled days of rides, bands, bike contests, bike accessories, bling gear, mechanical bulls, BBQ and a unique wine, scotch and beer tasting evening. We believe that Lace, Grace and Gears® will become an annual tradition, with more than 5,000 female bikers, led by a celebrity grand marshal, rolling into town to take part in THE largest escorted women’s ride in history!

The Lace, Grace and Gears Rally is organized by women riders for women riders to have a voice: not only will Beaumont, TX hear 5000 bikes roar through its streets in the biggest women only rider parade ever, but the top brass in the motorcycle industry, dealerships, gear manufacturers, and our biker brotherhood will hear our voices when we speak as one about who we are, what we need, and where we are heading as a nearly 7 million strong sisterhood. Most importantly, we believe that thousands of sisters who are interested in asserting their freedom and independence while holding their own handlebars will hear us and join us. After all, if we could, THEY CAN!
